🎯Commitment can look like many things. For me, it was waking up one morning, and realizing this will be my goal for the rest of my life. Every decision I made after that what’s to get closer to my goal of becoming an SLP.
1. Identify which SLP programs you are applying to and write down their prerequisites.
2. Contact your local community college or university, and create a plan of how quickly you can get through all of missing courses.
3. Get some shadowing volunteering experience and really good recommendation letters.
4. Create a killer personal statement.
5. Create an application and apply to every SLP Program that you think you have a chance of getting into.
6. When you get your acceptance letter, this is where you start planning the next phase.
7. When you’re actually in SLP Program, you have to strategically maneuver through every exam to get to the end. Failure is not an option and that’s exactly the mindset you have to have to get through this part.
I can go on and on and dive into each step. I can go even further and explain what you have to do for mentorship and secure your first job. But that can’t all be done over Social Media. It requires a structured approach to program and one on one conversations.
